{"id":303,"date":"2006-10-24T09:59:01","date_gmt":"2006-10-24T13:59:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/getgood.com\/roadmaps\/?p=303"},"modified":"2008-10-17T18:39:11","modified_gmt":"2008-10-17T22:39:11","slug":"from-the-in-box-why-blogging-matters-and-crayon","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/getgood.com\/roadmaps\/2006\/10\/24\/from-the-in-box-why-blogging-matters-and-crayon\/","title":{"rendered":"From the in-box: Why blogging matters and Crayon"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A couple of items from the in-box<\/p>\n<p>Eric Kintz from HP sent me a link to <a href=\"http:\/\/h20325.www2.hp.com\/blogs\/kintz\/archive\/2006\/10\/23\/1774.html\">Why Blogging Matters<\/a>, a group post written by six top marketing executives (<a href=\"http:\/\/darmano.typepad.com\/logic_emotion\/\">David Armano, Digitas<\/a>; <a href=\"http:\/\/notetaker.typepad.com\/cgm\/\">Pete Blackshaw, Nielsen Buzz Metrics<\/a>; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.churbuck.com\/wordpress\/\">David Churbuck, Lenovo<\/a>; <a href=\"http:\/\/bernaisesource.blog.com\/\">Dan Greenfield, EarthLink<\/a>;&nbsp; <a href=\"http:\/\/h20325.www2.hp.com\/blogs\/kintz\/\">Eric Kintz, Hewlett-Packard<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/ana.blogs.com\/maestros\/\">Will Waugh, ANA<\/a>)<\/p>\n<p>They each tackle a topic to explain &quot;Why Blogging Matters.&quot;&nbsp; Now, there isn&#8217;t anything terribly new in the post for someone who has been involved in social media marketing and PR for any length of time, but this post still matters. <\/p>\n<p>Because six top marketing executives who get it and are demonstrating social media leadership in their organizations is worth something. <\/p>\n<p>Particularly given the ethical lapses we&#8217;ve seen elsewhere in the blogosphere recently. <\/p>\n<p>Neville Hobson wrote me about <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nevillehobson.com\/2006\/10\/22\/its-time-to-unveil-crayon\/\">Crayon,<\/a> his new venture with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.jaffejuice.com\/\">Joseph Jaffe<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.holtz.com\/\">Shel Holtz<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cc-chapman.com\/\">CC Chapman<\/a>. Neville describes it as a &quot;true mash-up that combines the best in traditional and new thinking about marketing, advertising and PR.&quot; The new business will be virtually located in Second Life and will launch this Thursday from their Second Life home, Crayonville Island. <\/p>\n<p>This may just give me the impetus to check out Second Life.
