{"id":457,"date":"2007-12-21T08:37:22","date_gmt":"2007-12-21T12:37:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/getgood.com\/roadmaps\/?p=457"},"modified":"2007-12-21T08:37:22","modified_gmt":"2007-12-21T12:37:22","slug":"whymommy-give-peas-a-chance","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/getgood.com\/roadmaps\/2007\/12\/21\/whymommy-give-peas-a-chance\/","title":{"rendered":"WhyMommy &#038; give Peas a chance"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>cross posted to Snapshot Chronicles<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Over the past week or so, a movement took shape on Twitter to support a fellow blogger<a href=\"http:\/\/susanreynolds.blogs.com\/boobsonice\/\"> Susan Reynolds<\/a> recently diagnosed with a difficult-to-treat form of breast cancer. As a result of a comment she made about using frozen peas to relieve pain in the affected breast, folks started adding images of peas to their Twitter avatars in a show of support. I don&#8217;t know Susan, but many friends and acquaintances do, and\u00a0 I truly admire bloggers facing life-threatening diseases who write about their battle in an effort to help others.<\/p>\n<p>So,\u00a0 I decided I would put up a new Twitter avatar. A decision made easier when the <a href=\"http:\/\/queenofspainblog.com\/\">Queen of Spain&#8217;s<\/a> talented husband offered to make pea avatars for people, meaning you wouldn&#8217;t be subjected to my sketchy graphics skills. <\/p>\n<p>However, I decided I didn&#8217;t just want peas. I&#8217;ve written here <a href=\"https:\/\/getgood.typepad.com\/getgood_strategic_marketi\/2007\/11\/blogging-heroes.html\">before<\/a> about a courageous woman fighting inflammatory breast cancer, <a href=\"http:\/\/toddlerplanet.wordpress.com\/\">Susan Niebur<\/a>, also known as WhyMommy, who used her blog and the community of mommy bloggers to spread the word about this rare form of cancer. <\/p>\n<p>I wanted my avatar to honor both Susans. <\/p>\n<p>So today, in their honor and also in memory of friends and family lost to cancer, my <a href=\"http:\/\/twitter.com\/sgetgood\">Twitter avatar<\/a> is a pink Y, for WhyMommy, wearing a pea necklace, for Susan Reynolds.<\/p>\n<p><small>Tags: <a rel=\"tag\" href=\"http:\/\/technorati.com\/tag\/Susan+Reynolds\">Susan Reynolds<\/a>, <a rel=\"tag\" href=\"http:\/\/technorati.com\/tag\/WhyMommy\">WhyMommy<\/a><\/small><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>cross posted to Snapshot Chronicles Over the past week or so, a movement took shape on Twitter to support a fellow blogger Susan Reynolds recently diagnosed with a difficult-to-treat form of breast cancer.
