It’s all in the name…

June 12, 2006 by Susan Getgood

Brangelina really should have consulted somebody on the name for their newborn daughter. Bad enough that they used the masculine form Nouvel, versus the feminine Nouvelle, but the blogosphere has coined a nickname for poor Shiloh-Nouvel Jolie-Pitt —  Shovel.

It would be awful if it weren’t so funny, n’est-ce pas?

Why the mean-spirited post? I don’t really care about the couple — and I couldn’t have remembered the daughter’s name to save my life — but this was a waste of virtual ink and cruel to boot.

Sorry if this post offended you. I think a famous couple that sells the pictures of their newborn to the highest bidder has pretty much put themselves squarely in the public eye. It amused me when I read it and I knew it would amuse some of my readers.

    ADDED:
I really wasn’t making fun of the baby. More her parents, whose behavior I find rather unappealing. And I do feel bad for the kid saddled with that name. I know others who have given children equally difficult names, with few nickname options.

I do appreciate all comments – even when they are calling me on my own s***
